Save a document

iA Writer automatically saves your documents as you work, even if you haven’t saved them with a filename yet.

Open iA Writer

To save a document:
  1. In iA Writer, choose File Save….
  2. Select the save location, name your document, then click Save.
To save a document in iCloud:

If you save to iCloud, it stores your documents and makes them available on all your devices.

  • Make sure iCloud Documents & Data is On, then:
  • For OS X 10.8+:
    1. Choose File Save….
    2. Select iCloud as the save location if necessary, then click Save.
  • For OS X 10.7:
    1. Choose File Save…, and save the document on your computer.
    2. Choose File iCloud… Move to iCloud.

Use the iCloud Documents & Data service

To rename and save a copy of the document:
  1. In iA Writer, choose File Duplicate.
  2. Choose File Save….
  3. Name your document, select the save location, then click Save.

iA Writer saves your document as a plain text file using the extension .md (in UTF-8 encoding).
